If you are importing merchandise into the United States, for commercial purposes that are valued over $2,500, you must post a Customs bond.

AIR IMPORT

We work with our global networks of agents or with your foreign forwarder to provide pricing and service for your air freight shipments to the U.S. We strongly advise our clients, their foreign forwarder, or our agent to send us the documents in advance as this allows for us to be proactive with the filing of the entry for your goods. Prior to release of your goods by Customs and the other government affiliates, we coordinate the final delivery from the airport to your warehouse.

Our import team works diligently to meet the regulatory requirements by effectively communicating with all parties involved with your shipment so your goods are delivered without delay and additional costs.

HAZARDOUS MATERIALS

Hazardous materials or dangerous goods should be thoroughly evaluated prior to export from the overseas location to ensure the items are allowed importation into the U.S. It is imperative the import regulations are clearly understood to avoid penalties or fines and also the various agency regulations are adhered to. We work with hazmat drivers and vendors to keep our clients’ goods and the public safe. If you are unsure about a particular hazardous item, our trained hazmat staff is here to assist you and answer your questions before you begin the shipping process as all parties have a responsibility.

OCEAN IMPORT

We work with our global networks of agents or with your foreign forwarder to provide pricing and service for your ocean freight shipments to the U.S. It is now of paramount importance the U.S. importer of record to maintain control of their ocean freight routings. As the importer of record, you are responsible to ensure the correct and timely filing of the Importer Security Filing (ISF) with U.S. Customs and Border Protection. The importer is subject to fines and penalties up to $5,000.00 if the ISF is not filed in the required time frame. We request the ISF document to be sent completed to us no later than 48 hours prior to the vessel’s departure from the origin port. We also request the documents for your shipment to be sent to us in advance for us to begin the entry process of your goods.

We coordinate with you and/or your warehouse to schedule final delivery of your cargo pending release from Customs and the other government affiliates. We work meticulously with both our client and their suppliers to see that the goods arrive as scheduled to avoid any demurrage or detention charges. These value-added services are in place to save you time and money.

PERISHABLE & TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED

We have the ability to import perishable and frozen cargo into the U.S. for our clients. This specialty service requires open and timely communication from all parties involved along with the correct routings and equipment in place to safeguard the cargo during transport into the U.S. Prior to exporting your perishable or frozen goods, it is important to review all guidelines issued by the F.D.A. and U.S.D.A. and complete all required paperwork that must accompany your cargo. We can assist you in properly registering with the various agencies. A large part of our services include advising on prior notice, proper packing and labeling, and detailed documentation required prior to importation. It is critical to know the regulations and ensuring the proper arrangements are in place to keep your goods safe.

SINGLE ENTRY AND CONTINUOUS CUSTOMS BOND

If you are importing merchandise into the United States, for commercial purposes that are valued over $2,500, or a commodity subject to other federal agencies requirements (for example firearms or food), you must post a Customs bond.

If you use a Customs broker to clear your goods through CBP, the broker’s bond may be used to secure your transaction. You have the option of obtaining a “single entry” or “continuous bond”. The type of bond you elect to obtain ultimately depends on how often you import into the U.S. For instance, if you only import on occasion, the single entry bond is recommended. If you import frequently and through various ports of entry, the continuous bond is beneficial and economically the best choice.
