FULL CONTAINER LOAD (FCL)
Full Container load or FCL shipments are moved with a number of ocean freight lines. As an independent freight forwarder, we are able to work with any carrier that can meet the needs of our clients. When quoting our clients, we are looking for the overall best cost and not the cheapest. Why not the cheapest? Cheap comes with a cost. What we at Jade do is explore multiple carriers to find the best vessel schedules and frequency, transit times, carrier reliability, equipment and space availability, and the customer service of the carrier.
Depending on the size of your shipment, shipping FCL may be a viable option for your cargo as there could be additional shipping cost savings and offers more protection for your cargo during transit.
LESS THAN CONTAINER LOAD (LCL)
Less than container load or LCL shipments are moved with a number of ocean freight carriers that are consolidators or NVOCC’s (non vessel operating common carriers). We have the ability to move smaller shipments by LCL and take advantage of the larger NVOCC buy rates. They offer this service and generally have very large contracts directly with the steamship lines or vessel operators and they can offer these rates to shippers whose cargo lends itself to consolidation.
LCL can consist of only a couple of boxes to a few pallets of your product. We look not only for the best overall price, but the best service available to move your LCL cargo. LCL only pertains to dry, non-perishable cargo.
