Since our last update a few days ago, many events have taken place due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak in the US. Major league sports have now suspended their seasons, concerts and any type of large gatherings have been postponed or cancelled, schools in our area have closed for a minimum of 2 weeks and it seems this is now happening nationwide. We continue to monitor the situation as the safety of our employees, our communities, and global commerce is critical during this time.
The issues for the shipping industry continue to increase on a daily basis. Trucking issues due to driver shortages and equipment availability continue. The carriers are still faced with overbooked vessels as space and equipment availability are limited. There is now a 30-day travel ban in place for international flights effective today with Europe, Germany, France and Netherlands being the most affected as they make up 57% of all flights to and from the US. We are working with our agent networks to evaluate alternative solutions if available at this time for shipping your cargo.
We ask you to first, keep safe and plan ahead. Communications going forward is key. The more information we receive in advance regarding your booking requests, change in warehouse schedules, etc, the more we can work to plan your shipments accordingly. This situation continues to be extremely fluid. We will continue to monitor and provide you with the latest information as it becomes available.
Thank you for your consideration.
